No matter the challenge you're facing, I'm here to listen, support and empower you with effective strategies and a nurturing environment to navigate life's complexities, set practical steps to wok towards goals, make positive changes, and nurture the resilience necessary for a more fulfilling life.

What to expect

Sessions are 1hr and with EMDR, generally the first session is getting context on your history and assessing your nervous system/resilience and depending on how ready you are to bring up the memories to process EMDR, it might not happen in the first session, but I find most clients at least get a taste of bilateral stimulation and how it works. We can also start with smaller memories at first to test how you respond.

For counselling I adapt techniques (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy) based on what we’re working through, whether it’s challenging limiting beliefs, finding clarity, setting goals etc. Some approaches may feel too clinical or just not for you and we can work around that, the good thing is I’m trained in quite a few therapies so we can find what works for you.

Modalities I practice

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of talk therapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, and emotional responses. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and actions are interconnected, and that by addressing negative thought patterns, we can improve emotional well-being and behaviours. In this process I like to uncover negative core beliefs, challenge and reframe them and also process them using EMDR.

Solution-focused Therapy (SFT)

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a short-term, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and building solutions rather than dwelling on problems or the past. The language used is also forward-focused and solution-oriented. SFT often asks questions of ideal situations, and working together to set mini goals to get there.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals live meaningful lives by embracing and accepting their thoughts and feelings, rather than fighting or avoiding them. It’s grounded in mindfulness, behavioural change principles, and psychological flexibility. While CBT works to challenge and change unhelpful thoughts, ACT emphasises accepting them and focusing on values-driven actions. It’s less about "fixing" thoughts and more about creating a rich and meaningful life despite challenges.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative counseling approach that helps individuals find their own motivation for making positive behavioral changes. It works by exploring their ambivalence, addressing resistance, and examining the disadvantages of staying in the current situation compared to the benefits of change. MI is particularly effective for individuals who feel uncertain or resistant about making changes.

What can counselling help with?

Negative beliefs and self-sabotaging patterns

Through talk therapy and effective questioning, we can uncover negative core beliefs and self-sabotaging patterns and learn to gradually reprogram them so that they don't take away from your life and potential using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Achieving goals and long-term visions

Through a collaborative process, we can set practical goals towards what you would like to achieve and cultivate motivation and clarity around your driving forces using Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Mental Health & Wellness

Anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and other mental health conditions can be addressed with a combination of techniques.

Navigating difficult times and the emotions that come with it

Whether you are going through a break up, difficult life transition or grieving a loss that is interfering with your daily life, I can provide support, nurturing practices or rituals that can help you through a rough patch.

Emotional Processing and

Self-regulation

Learn how to sit through and feel painful emotions in a supported environment and techniques to uphold yourself during moments of spiralling. Prevention and maintenance is just as important as getting help during a crisis.

Deeper self-knowledge and attunement

An aligned life involves knowing yourself deeply. That way you know what your needs or deep desires are and you can live in accordance to your values and what feels right and true to you.

My aim is to help clients:

To live an unencumbered life without being held back by patterns of the past, and to develop healthy ways of regulating when life puts challenges in your path.

How?
  • Processing past hurts using Somatic EMDR, however big or small your 'trauma'.
  • Developing a deeper relationship with yourself to notice when you are out of alignment, or how certain situations may still hold an influence over you.
  • Foster kinder self-talk and self-acceptance, especially if you have a domineering negative inner critic.
  • Explore incongruences in your mindset, behaviour, situation(s) and desires and start moving towards a more aligned place.
